HEY GUYS! IT IS SUMMERTIME!
So that means that camp is coming again! I am working hard on my Camp Nano novel! Here is a piece of it.
Chapter 3
After a half hour somebody had gotten to the point where they had, had enough of the chaos. Now the former captives were sitting on one side of a long table. Kamryn Scott was super annoyed. The weird cat-guy that had watched her idiot brother throw himself off a roof, was now asking them all sorts of questions about their captivity to Manser. What right did he have!? Who did he think he was? Kamryn folded her arms. He had no right to keep her there, she wouldn’t answer his questions. She didn’t care if he had helped get them out of that torture, in fact she would’ve rather stayed in torture than listen to this guy interrogate everyone. She really wanted to tear him to pieces, but instead she sat defiantly in her seat. A sharp nudge hit her in the side and she turned. Her friends Miranda Coleman was jerking her head toward the front of Kamryn. Kamryn turned and saw the cheetah-guy watching her. She gave him an angry stare. “What the heck do you want?!” The cheetah-guy sighed. “I just want to help, okay? I can’t help without knowing what happened to you.” He said matter-of-factly. Kamryn stood up abruptly ad smacked the table angrily, causing it to break into pieces. “WE DON’T NEED YOUR HELP! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, ASKING US ABOUT THAT?! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WE WENT THROUGH!” The cheetah-guy got into her face. “Yes I do. I have spent the last year and a half here, facing tortures that even the worst criminals should never face. I have a bloodthirsty monster inside me that comes out when I am super hungry. Right now I am a danger to everyone around me so DON’T PUSH ME or you will not last long here.” Kamryn looked into his eyes, pretty sure he was bluffing, but as she looked into his eyes she became more and more afraid of him. She backed away slowly. The cat-guy sat down, breathing in and out slowly. A girl who was sitting against the wall near the back, stood up and came over to help calm the cheetah. “Hey Jackson, its okay! Calm down…” She sat next to him and hugged him. Kamryn watched them part afraid but also part relieved. She wondered what that cheetah-moron’s problem was! She had a right to not say anything against her own free will, didn’t she?
On the other side of the room…
Jackson hugged Harmony, feeling the monster inside rear its ugly, yet all too familiar face. Harmony’s presence seemed to make it go away, but the anger at that girl, Kamryn… He narrowed his eyes. He had just wanted to help them, and this girl just HAD to be a… He shut his eyes. He was getting angry; he couldn’t afford to get angry. If he got angry, anyone in the building would be in terrible danger. Harmony let go and stared into his eyes. He noticed how pretty her blue green eyes were, how bright her smile was, and his anger slowly started to go away. He smiled at her. “I’m okay Harmony…” She gave him a smile, “Good.” Jackson turned his head towards Kamryn, who was watching them. Her expression was neutral, like she didn’t care that she had almost had sent him into a angry rage another side of the table. “She is afraid of you. You know.” Zander’s voice entered his mind. Jackson looked toward Zander and thought “I scared her? I didn’t mean too… I was scared myself.” Zander chuckled inside Jackson’s head “Yes. But she now knows that you aren’t a guy to be messed with.” Jackson frowned, “I… don’t like it… People that have seen me and are afraid of me treat me like a freak… I hate being like this.” Zander sighed, “I am sorry… I didn’t mean to make you feel bad” Jackson shrugged it off, “It’s okay, man… I just would feel a lot better if I was a normal human again.” Suddenly Marcus came running in with a box of crackers, followed by the boy who matched the description of Jarrod Augustine from the files. Jackson stood up “What’s up?” Seeing the box of crackers, he stood up abruptly “Where did you get that food?” Marcus stuffed a few crackers in his mouth. “Manser has a whole pantry full of stuff” He said with a full mouth “That liar has had the ability to stuff his own face, but he ‘never had enough’ to feed us!” Jarrod chuckled scornfully “More like, didn’t want to feed you. This Manser guy sounds like a complete loser.” Jackson frowned, thinking of all the things that Manser did to them. “You don’t know the half of it, kid.” He turned to the teens that had just been freed, “Are you guys hungry?” The kids looked at each other then back at Jackson. “Duh!” “Just got out of a freaking torture chamber!” “Yes we want food” “Are you a mindreader? YES!” the kids said all at once, whether telepathically or spoken. Kamryn, still looking very defiant, stood up and said “What makes you think…” The girl next her also stood up, “Kamryn! Give it a rest! If you want to be a jerk, be a jerk; but at least be happy that you don’t have brick wall weighing you down. These guys may not be to YOUR liking, but they saved us. They at least deserve respect for that!” Kamryn looked at the girl furiously, then back at Jackson, then at the ground. “You… are right Miranda.” She muttered a half-hearted “Sorry” to Jackson. Miranda smiled at her friend and turned to Marcus, “I heard something about food?” Marcus smiled this really weird smile, “Umm… Yes. Right this way.”

Korey stood up to follow, but stopped and turned to the young boy next to him, who was not walking in the right direction. “Ray.” The boy turned around toward the sound of his voice. “Yeah? Who’s that? Korey, is that you?” Korey smiled at the boy, “Yep. You weren’t going the right way, buddy.” Ray cocked his head and pointed in the direction he was going, “The door isn’t that way?” Korey put a hand on the boy’s shoulder, “No”. “You two need help over here?” The cool looking, slightly scary cheetah said walking up. Korey and Ray jumped. “Dude!” Ray said looking and feeling around, “Where did you come from?” As Ray felt around, the cheetah looked at Korey with an arched eyebrow. Korey whispered, “Blind as a bat.” Ray fumbled around feeling for them, “I can still hear! Will one of you help me before I bump into to something and hurt myself? My sonar vision doesn’t work in such closed spaces.” Jackson and Korey came alongside the young boy, and helped guide him to the doorway so he could follow the others. As they walked Ray looked in the direction that he thought the cheetah was in. “My name is Raphael Tucker, but you can call me Ray. What is your name?” The cheetah smiled, “Jackson. Jackson Malerdeen.” Ray extended his hand towards where he thought Jackson was, only to have it pulled towards the right direction and shaken by Jackson’s paw. “Let’s go find the food, now” Ray said walking down the hallway. He did get quickly lost, but Jackson and Korey found him and directed him toward the right direction. They found Marcus and the others in front of a small cafeteria. The crazy leopard dude was just about to open the door. Jackson chuckled as they ran up “Wow Marcus, giving them the grand tour? I thought you were just getting food.” Marcus gave him a look, then blushed “I-I took too many left turns…” Jackson laughed at his friend. Marcus got even redder “Don’t tell Katelynn…” He stuttered pushing the doors open. Korey put a hand to his mouth to stifle his laughter. On the other side of the door stood the mutant tigress, who Korey was sure was Katelynn. She was holding a tape-recorder and smirking evilly “They don’t have too. Got it all here” She said tapping the tape recorder in her paw. Marcus’s face whitened and his eyes widen, “You wouldn’t…” Katelynn laughed, “Marcus Jenario, you know that I would most certainly use this as blackmail. Right along with your love note from the seventh grade for…” Marcus gave her really big sad eyes, “Please… don’t…” Katelynn laughed and walked away, making room for the hungry teens to run into the cafeteria literally knocking down some of the shelves. Korey searched the shelves looking for his favorite food. After two or three shelves, he found what he was looking for. A bag of crispy corn chips. He licked his lips and walked to the fridge and got a jar of cheesy chili dip. He got pushed out of the way by the group tough guy, Maverick Keller; who was probably looking for some apple pie filling. Maverick ducked down looking for it. “UGH! CHERRY pie filling?” He said picking up a huge can of cherry filling and throwing it over his shoulder. It narrowly missed the young guy with red hair, who produced a shield out of thin air to keep the can from hitting him while he searched for the yogurt. “Maverick. You are throwing things again.” He said not looking up from his search for the yogurt. Maverick didn’t even look at the kid. “Sorry Damon” though not sounding very sorry. Damon nodded “Hey Caddie! Found the sweet and sour pickles for you three.” He said gesturing to Caddie, Miranda, and Kamryn, the former of whom came and grabbed the pickle jar. Maverick stood up from his search for apple pie filling. “YES! I have found the pie filling.” He said as grabbed a knife and stabbed it into the lid of the pie filling. He leaned again the wall and just started to eat the pie filling out of the can with a spoon. Korey sighed and looked around at all his friends that he had spent the last two years with, even though their only recent contact was listening to each other’s screams of pain, and decided that there was no place he would rather be, than surrounded by these guys.
…………………………
Caddie watched the scene unfolding in the cafeteria, while half-heartedly listening to her friends chatting about how stupid everything was, and listening to Miranda keep telling Kamryn to calm down. Okay, so saying that she was watching the WHOLE scene would be a big overstatement. She really had her eye on the young boy sitting at the back table, all by himself with a few boxes and a guitar case next to him, reading a comic book. Excusing herself, she walked over to the boy and sat down next to him. “Hey.” The boy looked up “Hey.” Extending his hand he said, “My name is Jarrod. What’s yours?” Caddie smiled and shook his hand “Cadmus Greene, but my friends call me Caddie.” Jarrod smiled, “Nice to meet you Caddie.” Noticing the comic book, he was reading, she gasped, “Oh! Is that Super Archer Family Deluxe!? That is one of my favorites! Isn’t that the one where he shoots the guy with his boxing glove arrow? That was probably the first time he had ever used that one!” Jarrod nodded and put down the comic, “Yes, but the first time it was actually used was in issue 18 by his niece, when she was defending herself from bullies that had followed her home from school.” Caddie cocked her head, “Really? I haven’t gotten to read the first nineteen issues yet. I had to start at twenty, because the first nineteen are super rare.” Jarrod smiled, “They are!” He pulled out a stack of comics and slid them over to her. “ I just happen to own all 19 issues.” Caddie’s eyes widened. “Awesome! She picked up a comic and started reading issue #1.
…………………………….
Jarrod pulled his comic to a few inches away from his face so Caddie couldn’t see his expression. Thoughts were running through his mind. “Oh my goodness! There is a girl sitting next to me. Okay Jarrod, do not freak out. Do not freak out.” He peeked over the comic book to look at her. “Wow” he thought “She is pretty… Oh my goodness what if she catches me staring…” He ducked back behind his comic, feeling super awkward. “Hey guys… It’s getting late” Jarrod turned to see Jackson had walked in. “You figure out what happened to the adults yet? Jackson shook his head. “No… And until we do…” Jackson slightly cringed. “We are going to have to stay here as a group. It could be WAY too dangerous now” Everyone started complaining about having to stay in the lab, but Jarrod was fine with it. He had a weird feeling that for the first time in his life, he would be going on a real adventure. On his own.
:D YAY! So lets see a piece of your Nano. It doesn't have to be as long as mine though.
